Welcome Susannah and Hannah from Wedderburn and Haley and Jocelyn from Andale. This is your page to share and work in. You will also have your own individual page where you can post your environmental footprint and other ideas as we go along.

Final Reflections December) - Thinking back over the past semester, what impact has this project on Global Warming had on you? What have you learned about yourself, your environment, your world?
 Susannah
Hannah

*Haley* .

Over this past time that I have spent learning about global warming and all of the dangers it has on our environment I would like to say that it has had a big impact on me. I am still unsure on whether or not to believe in it, but there are ways to help us live in a better climate. I don't think that the earth overheating has very much to do with drought ,but I still think it is a good idea to conserve water and not waste it. I have learned so much since we have started this project and I am glad to have a better understanding about it. Now I have more knowledge about global warming.
*Jocelyn  I look back a couple months ago before we started the project and think about how much I didn't know. I didn't know that the world was struggling from so many environmental issues. My partner, Haley and I chose drought because  Australia and Kansas both struggle from it. I feel so lucky to have gotten to participate in this project. There is a part of me that hasn't changed, however. I still don't believe in global warming. Al Gore can say what he wants, but I don't believe it. There are many global environmental issues though. So many people have been watching this project and to me that is really cool. Maybe we can start a chain reaction and reduce pollution and conserve drought.

November 5th Reflections - What are some of the facts on your environmental issue that are surprising you?  What can we do to let the world know how to solve this problem?
Susannah i found that alot of countaries dont care about australias situation and continue to have 20 MINUTE showers tginking that t wont make a difference!
Hannah

I really think that we as in australia needs to inform the world about our water situation, our drought and what it can do to you!!!ng i had found suprising is that a lot of countries are in the dark about drought. as i have found out USA dont know about Australias water situation and how severe our drought really is.

*Haley* .

Some facts that support the enviornmental issue that is supprising me is that there are many places that have drought and most of them arent even the united states. Ways we can help the world improve this issue is by making a limit on how much water we can use for personal hygine such as taking a shorter shower, and not leaving the water on when we brush our teeth
*Jocelyn*  This project has been so amazing to me because I have got to see how little things like taking too long of showers and watering our lawns twice a day can impact global warming. The most surprising fact I found was that so many people are dying because of not having clean water. I hope that many citzens can wake up and help out with global issuses. I know I will work on conserving water.

Question to group members in both schools

Wedderburn Respe

Andale Response

What environmental issue should your group research?   water wasting  We would like to research air pollution.
Why do you think your research might help your communities? The drought has a growing effect on today’s society.
Water wasting is one of the main problems that effects our household, communities and farms. Melbourne is wasting water by losing 92% of its city run off water as only 8% get into its dams. This statistic proves how serious the issue is. Any thinking person would realise and agree with me that this is a problem. Although the government needs to continue telling Australian households to save water it also needs to realise that it can help and also think about different ways they can contribute to saving the water. If water is saved in all different little ways it will have a big effect in the long run.
We as citizens of our state need to prove this point to the government, so that they will stop shifting the blame to household saying we use to much water!!

The drought affects people in farming areas including their crops and livestock. A lot of people in our area live on farms and without rain and follow-up rain, our crops and livestock will die.
Any smart person would save their water or reuse it. Melbourne wastes 92% of city run off water. You could buy a tank and catch water in that instead of letting it waste because rain is quite rare at the moment.
Saving water would have an impact on the drought. Statistics have shown that when Melbourne was changed to water restrictions they used more water instead of less. A lot of city people use too much water and it shows.

We think that air pollution is in both communities and that it would be easier to find more information about air pollution than any of the other choices. Plus air pollution is a major factor inrirsin injuring our lungs and causing many health problems.

After researching more information about drought and water wasting we came to a conclusion that drought could be a major issue to learn more about. Haley and I could not believe some of the restictions that you guys have to deal with. We are so fortunate bacause sadly Haley and I are not aware of how we are wasting water. We each take about 20 minute showers and water our lawns daily. Although drought is a big issue we do not have to worry about it. Instead we have other issues like air pollution. We thought about how our life would change if we had drought. Our community is a big farming community. A lot of people would lose their jobs. Along with farming I could not imagine having as many water restrictions that you guys have. That is so terrible.

Haley and Jocelyn

by what you are saying u sound happy 2 do drought...i will start researching that topic...if you want 2 change topic or tlk about it u can write in the comment box...

tlk soon hannah

From Mrs. Smoke - Susannah and Hannah - Thank you for posting your responses today.  You certainly have written a thoughtful persuasive piece with data to support your reasoning.  Well done.

Question to you: On a scale of 1-5 (1 being low and 5 being high) how much would you agree to research air pollution?

dear mrs. Smoke,

hannah and i are not really interested in reasearching this issue. (1) as we belive that there are more important issues than air pollution. personally we belive that air pollution really isnt much of an issue. we belive that it is a result of issues such as burning of fossil fuels, water pollution, forrest burning, land clearing etc. we would also like for Jocelyn and haley to understand the conditions we live in and how water is precious to us. thanks susannah and hannah

Haley and Jocelyn: Question to you: On a scale of 1-5 (1 being low and 5 being high) how much would you agree to research drought?

Dear Haley and Jocelyn

I find it interesting that you have chosen  the issue of air pollution. I guess I was imagining that because you live in a rural area that you wouldn't have an issue with air pollution but it seems that maybe you have. Do you have factories in your town? We would love to get your rating so that we can decide which issue you want to explore. ..Mrs Baird.

Week 1 Reflections - What are two things that surprised you this week and one thing you are looking forward to learning from your partners?
Susannah  this movie was very touching! the interesting fact lead me to really wonder about the world. Are these statistics real? if these are then we really need to do something about global warming!!!
Hannah  After watching the movie i surprised at the statistics that the man told us! it is quite scary to think that our earth is changing so quickyly due to what we put into our atmosphere! isnt that scary?? and also the fact that our town in the middle of victoria may become beach front and that is even scarier!!!
Haley  I was surprised in how much water would cover the world if Global warming continued for another 50 years.  I was also surprised if we continued to thicken the atmosphere some of the animals would lose their habitats.
Jocelyn  What really surprised me was how the temperatures have gone up and that Greenland is melting so quickly.  I think we can use more energy efficient light bulbs and recycle.
