| Final Reflections (December)- Thinking back over the past semester, what impact has this project on Global Warming had on you? What have you learned about yourself, your environment, your world? |

Over the last semester I have learned a lot about global warming. First of all, I feel bad for those people out there in the world that are currently in a drought or are on water restrictions. Areas that have plenty of water shouldn't waste or take water for granted. I never knew that pollution was such a big problem. Factories, vehicles, and electricity are a few of the major contributing ones to pollution. When I first started school this year of 2007, I didn't even think about the daily things that I, and my community, do that contributes to global warming. Now I know that I will walk or ride a bike instead of driving, use less water, and turn off the lights when they aren't being used. These are only the little things each of us can do to help each day. I will help the world and my community...Who's with me? |

Before we started this project I didnt really think much about global warming and the environment. Now once we started this project, I discovered that we should step up and do something about these problems. I never knew that all that stuff could cause global warming, but now I do. I still think that global warming will never happen because my religion teacher said that when she was a little girl global warming was going on then. They said that it was going to happen like then, but the earth is still around; we're all still here. Global warming may not happen, but I still think that we should help our environment stay healthy as possible. We should stop polluting and figure out a way to solve drought and stuff like that. |
| November 5th Reflections - What are some of the facts on your environmental issue that are surprising you? What can we do to let the world know how to solve this problem? |

The surprising thing that we found out was that 60% of Australia has been declared drought effected by the federal government. We didn’t know it was that serious. We think that most people in Australia know about the issue but think that the world doesn’t need their input and that “Freddy is recycling so that makes it better and I don’t have to.”

Drought can sometimes lead to dirty enviroments which would then cause bacterial diseases and infections. Crops can fail from lack of water and then we wouldn't get enough food to eat. Another thing that surprised me about drought is that the Australia went through one of the most severe droughts on record in 2002 and 2003. To let the world know how they can help solve this problem is to put articles in newspapers, online, or just posters around town and in public buildings such as school, post office, etc. |

Well sometihng that surprised me about drought was that drought can make you not be able to take showers. ewww. Also that if we run out of water then the plants and animals will die and if we do not have any plants or animals then we will not survive either because we need them to eat vegtables and animals give us milk and meat and lots of other important food. To let the world know about this issue i would write a letter to the president saying what drought causes and how we could get rid of it. If that doesnt work i could go around the world and be a stand up teacher about drought and what it causes. |

| What environmental issue should your group research? |
Pollution
|
Drought/ Water Shortage |
| Why do you think your research might help your communities? |
You may not realise it but pollution is a global issue that affects us all and is worth acknowledging. Pollution is a serious problem for the health of human beings, and it also severely affects the natural environment we live in. It contributes to bigger world issues such as rising co2 levels, change in weather patterns and development of new diseases. As Co2 levels rise, the earth’s atmosphere becomes thicker and our planet becomes warmer. This will lead to major consequences in the future. We must take action to prevent any further harm to our planet Earth. You may not be able to build a solar power plant to power a small town, but by taking small steps like switching to cleaner forms of electricity such as solar power or green energy, walking or taking public transport instead of driving your car, switching off appliances at the wall, throwing your rubbish in the bin and recycling you as a person can prevent any further damage to our planet. In conclusion I recommend you to consider making some small changes to your lifestyle that will benefit the planet and to ensure that our future is a happy one.
We rate you issue around about a 3 we agree it is a very big issue because we both live on sheep and crop farms that are effected by the drouight but you have to fix the cause of drought before you can fix the actual drought problem. polution adds to drought because it polutes the atmosphere and this then doesnt let the hot air out and then the hot stuf makes the earth hotter.

We think that drought is a big problem because we wont be able to use water as much and drink it. We have experienced a drought problem in parts of western Kansas. For families that are farmers would affect them because crops can't grow without water, such as in Stephanie's family. If Steph's farming family doesn't get to farm then we don't get to eat much food. So as you can see water shortage would be a big problem.
(October 15,2007)
We agree with you that pollution is bad too but we think that drought is a major issue. If we run low on water all the plants will die. Without plants people would also die because we wouldn't get food, energy, or oxygen.
On a scale from 1-5 (one being low 5 being high) we would give pollution as our reasearch project a 3 out of 5. We would give pollution research a 3 because we think pollution is not as major as a drought issue. Drought is a major issue because as we said before plants would die causing us to die.

Polution, such as gasses and chemical fumes from factories contribute to the Co2 levles. the rise in Co2 levels causes drought so this, in the long run will end up helping solve the drought problem.
HEllo we would just like to say that you can have showers in a drought but just not as long, ( we know because we over here have 2-3minute showers because on farms you have to get your own water , now we cant afford to buy extra water to have long luxurious showers.) . we would like to know how long you have a shower for?

It is interesting that you have experienced drought just like we have here in Wedderburn. I wonder if your Wedderburn friends will want to look at the same issue. from Mrs Baird. |
| Week 1 Reflections - What are two things that surprised you this week and one thing you are looking forward to learning from your partners? |

The thing that shocked us the most was the major impact we have on global warming. We didn't realise the seriousness on the issue until we saw the statistics, before and after photos and the graphs of the past, present and future years. |

We did the review together. |

I can't believe that Antarctica is breaking up and the maps will have to be redrawn. The increase of the CO2 levels need to be addresssed. I think we should grow more trees in Andale. |
| Emily |
I think the environmental problem should be solved because in the movie it said if we are raising the CO2 levels and we are making the atmosphere thicker so the air will become more hot air will stay on Earth. We could use bikes more often since this is such a small town. We should plant more trees. |
